CBT therapy this week, with a PhD or PsyD therapist who can flex if CBT alone isn't enough.

First session as soon as this week. Every CBT therapist holds a PhD or PsyD, with CBT training built into doctoral curriculum, not a weekend course. And when CBT alone isn't getting at the root, your same therapist can flex into DBT, psychodynamic, or other evidence-based methods. No referrals out. No starting over.

What we treat

CBT is what most patients use here, and the rest of the team is here when CBT isn't enough

Six ways our doctoral team supports adults using cognitive behavioral therapy and the modalities that pair with it. Every clinician PhD or PsyD.

  • CBT for anxiety

Structured cognitive behavioral therapy for generalized anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and health anxiety.

  • CBT for depression

Behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring, and the proven CBT framework for major and persistent depression.

  • CBT for OCD and trauma

CBT-based methods for OCD, trauma responses, and the conditions where CBT has the strongest evidence base.

  • DBT for emotion regulation

When emotion regulation, distress tolerance, or interpersonal effectiveness need a more structured framework alongside CBT.

  • Psychodynamic and deeper work

When CBT isn't getting at the root, your same doctoral therapist has training in deeper modalities.

  • Psychiatry on the same team

When medication can support CBT progress. One care plan, not two.

Why Williamsburg Therapy Group

Five reasons CBT searchers choose WTG over a CBT-only specialty

Where doctoral CBT meets the flexibility CBT-only practices can't offer.

  • CBT plus the rest, with the same doctoral therapist

Specialty centers refer you out when CBT isn't the right tool. Your WTG therapist already has training in DBT, psychodynamic, and other evidence-based approaches. CBT when it works, something deeper when it doesn't, without changing therapists.

  • Doctoral-level CBT

Only PhD and PsyD clinicians, with CBT training built into the doctoral curriculum, not a weekend course.

  • Real coordinator match in 24 hours

Some CBT therapists are highly structured (homework, worksheets, between-session protocols). Others are more conversational. Your coordinator picks the style that fits how you actually like to work.

  • Psychiatry on the same team

When CBT works better with medication, our psychiatrists are on the same care plan as your therapist. No separate practice.

  • Same therapist, every session

We match you once. You don't restart with a new clinician every time someone leaves the practice.

Common questions

Everything CBT searchers ask before the first session

How much does CBT cost, and how long will it take?
Sessions are $280 to $380 each. CBT for anxiety or depression typically runs 12 to 20 sessions. Some patients need more for complex situations and others see meaningful progress in fewer. Your therapist will set goals with you in the first sessions and check progress regularly. We're not in the business of keeping you in therapy forever.
What's the difference between doctoral-level CBT and master's-level CBT?
Doctoral-level CBT means your therapist trained in CBT as part of their PhD or PsyD program, typically 4 to 7 years of doctoral training including supervised CBT practice. Master's-level CBT often comes from a weekend course or short certification on top of a master's degree. The methods overlap, but the depth of training, supervision, and case experience differs significantly.
What if CBT doesn't work for me?
It happens. Sometimes CBT isn't the right approach for what you're working through, and a CBT-only practice will refer you out to start over with a new therapist. Our doctoral therapists are trained in multiple evidence-based methods, so if CBT isn't getting at the root, your same therapist can shift to DBT, psychodynamic, or another approach. You don't change practices, you don't restart your story.
Do you offer CBT for OCD specifically (ERP)?
Some of our doctoral therapists are trained in CBT-based methods that include exposure-and-response work for OCD. Your coordinator can match you specifically with a clinician who has this experience. If ERP for OCD is the main reason you're reaching out, mention it during your first call so we pair you correctly.
Do you take my insurance for CBT?
We're a cash-pay practice, so we don't bill insurance directly. Most patients use out-of-network benefits and get reimbursed 50 to 80 percent of the session fee. We give you a superbill and partner with Reimbursify, a claim-filing service, that submits it to your insurer for you.
